Recruiting

The end of the season is the start of on the road recruiting. Our coaches have been out talking to high school players around the states of Wisconsin and Minnesota. We have had a great group of potential student-athletes on campus so far, and a bunch more to visit after the holidays. Finishing the year 8-2 feels great and we are excited about the recruiting season!

Senior Day

We put together a great team effort in our senior's last home game of the season. The offense, defense, special teams all contributed to the win. Two interceptions for TD's, the special teams blocked two punts, and the offense put the ball in the end zone when needed as we won 43-10. This was our last home game for our twenty seniors. Senior Day is always an emotional day, as this proved to be no different. “This is a quality group of young men who have continued to push each other and this team to improve. They have gone through a lot together and they believe in each other. This staff is very proud of their accomplishments and know they will succeed at what lies ahead for them.”

Stout wins 36-15

After a hard week of practice and preparation, our players came home with the I94 trophy. Our guys played hard and played together to get the win on the road. This week, we move on to Lacrosse, on the road Saturday. Fundamentals and working on getting better is the plan.

I94 trophy week

War on 94. Stout vs. Eau Claire, 2009. Time for us to get back on track. After a disappointing loss on the road to Steven's Point 7-6, we met Whitewater at home last Saturday. I take my hat off to them, they are a very good football team. We learned a lot from them, in how they go about things, and how they play. This week brings another huge game. Our players will be ready to battle for the I94 trophy.

Wow!

Wow is all you can say about Stout vs River Falls, 2009. A typical WIAC battle right to the end, with us coming out on top 13-12. In the end we made one more play than they did, and we are happy to be 1-0 in the league. We have to improve to win more games, and Steven's Point is a great FB team we play on the road this week.

Homecoming

Pre-season tune ups are over. We came through 3-0, now the real season starts.
We open the conference season at home Saturday, at 1:00pm, vs a very good River Falls team. We are working hard at our weaknesses and look forward to a big game this weekend.

Stout 2-0, at home Saturday the 26th

We came out of Jamestown with a nice win, and have had two weeks to prepare and get ready for this weekend. For some reason, we are banged up right now, whcih is not a good thing going into the conference season in a week. We will work hard to get through it, and hope to put on a good performance this Saturday vs Eureka College. There is lots of fun stuff going on, come on out and take in a college game this weekend.

Stout Wins Game One 35-7.

Finally, we played game one. After a good fall camp, we had a pretty good first game. The offense and defense both played pretty well, with some key plays made by a lotof different people. Our young QB played well, mangaging the game and completing some nice passes for scores. We rushed for 299 yards, which is a good start. We have a lot of work to do to get better! We have to play lower on both sides of the ball, we have to block and tackle better, but overall a pretty good start. Sunday we helped with campus move in day, moving in freshmen to their dorm rooms for the first time. It was a busy day. Today, we get to work on films, of our game, and of Jamestown, as we prepare for our trip out there next weekend.

Fall Camp Over

Yesterday was our final day of camp, leading into our second day of hosting the Bob & Steve's BP Amoco Shops Gridiron Classic. As a program, we had a very good camp, it was very competitive, and our players pushed each other to get better. We have a couple days off, returning Monday for game week. No school during the week, so we can focus 100% on getting to 1-0. Simpson College will be a very well-prepared team, and will be a tough game for both teams. We hope you can make the game next Saturday at 1:00, Sept. 5th.

golf outing

After a good practice this morning, our team spent the afternoon at Whitetail Golf Course playing golf. Following a fun afternoon, they will return to campus, get in a good lift, then hang in the pool for a while. After supper, they will be off to meetings tonight to get ready for 2 practices on Wednesday. We are beginning to see the end of the fall camp tunnel.

Watermelon Scrimmage, 8-23-2009

As a staff we are satisfied with the way the team competed, and the intensity of the scrimmage. We stayed relatively healthy, except for one young rb who may be out for a while with a PCL injury. Both sides of the ball played too high, which we will work hard at improving this week. The offense struggled with motion penalties and blitz pick up. Defensively we need to tackle better. This morning both sides of the ball will be working hard on cut blocks, blitz game, and red zone pass game. Overall, we are on track and having a very good TEAM camp up to this point.
